Footers, footings and smaller digging jobs

People often call a foundation footing a “footer.” Whether you ask for footer digging or footing excavation, the work here is the digging stage—not designing or building the foundation.

Foundation and footing trenches

Need footers dug before the next stage of construction? We provide the excavation for the footing layout shown on your supplied plans. Your builder remains responsible for the design, layout requirements and construction that follows.

Sheds, additions and outbuildings

From a shed foundation to an addition or detached outbuilding, we review the digging scope alongside the surrounding property. Share the builder's plans and identify the proposed building location so we can assess access and quote the excavation portion.

Small excavation and backyard digging

Not every digging job needs a large site-preparation project. We assess smaller excavations and backyard work individually, including the work area, nearby structures and how equipment can reach the site. Access is checked before committing to the job; a narrow opening is not a promise that equipment will fit.

Planning the excavation with your builder

  1. Share the plans and project location

Send the job address or city, a short description of the structure or digging task, and any supplied builder plans. Note whether the building location has been established and who will coordinate the next construction stage. We do not provide structural design, engineering or concrete pouring.

  2. Walk through access and site conditions

Photos of the route from the street to the work area help us see gates, corners, slopes, soft ground and nearby structures. Let us know about landscaping you want to retain and where equipment and excavated soil could be positioned. We confirm the workable approach during job planning.

  3. Agree on spoil, backfill and cleanup

Excavated soil may be retained for agreed filling or grading elsewhere on the property when suitable. Spoil removal and backfilling can be included as part of the contracted excavation work where appropriate. Confirm what stays, what leaves, and whether a return visit is needed after the builder's work; these are not automatic inclusions and are available only as part of the excavation job.

  4. Coordinate the digging and next stage

Tell us your preferred timing and your builder's sequence, including any required inspection before work is covered. Utility locates must be completed before digging begins. Ground conditions, access and the agreed scope determine how the job is scheduled; no standard depth or structural specification is prescribed here.
